Doctoral training
How many hours of doctoral training should I take?
Each doctoral student must follow 100 hours of complementary training during the preparation of his/her thesis (estimated at 3 years).
This training can be organized by the university, the Doctoral School, companies, research laboratories, etc.
How are the training hours organized ?
These must be divided into Scientific Training (ST) and Professional Integration Training (PIT). The goal is to do at least 30 hours of FS, 30 hours of FIP, 30 hours of scientific integrity and research ethics and the remaining 25 hours of FIP or FS at your choice.
Scientific training (FS)
The purpose of this training is to open the scientific perspectives of the PhD students. It includes for example specialized doctoral courses, M2 courses, participation in a summer school course, etc... Requests for validation of hours are made by the PhD student directly on Siged. In each case, a certificate from the person in charge specifying the number of hours must be uploaded to Siged.
Training for Professional Integration (FIP)
Each year, training for professional integration is organized and offered to doctoral students as part of the thesis.
Other possibilities: setting up a start-up, intellectual property law, business management, conducting meetings, university pedagogy, structure of research in France, setting up European projects, etc.

nota bene: meetings, gatherings, doctoral student representatives, seminar organization, office manager, etc. will be validated on condition that the certificate explicitly states that you participated in one of the tasks related to research (and not reception, buying pastries, reserving rooms, putting up posters, ....).
How to find and register for the different courses ?
The InfoMaths doctoral school has its own program of scientific courses, see the page Doctoral courses.
Ethics and scientific integrity courses available (only one of these two courses is compulsory, your choice):

Notes :
The rules of follow-up of doctoral training are specific to each ED. Those indicated by the UDL are general rules and are given as an indication.
Training courses for scientific, technological and industrial dissemination, summer schools, tutorials, can be counted as FS or FIP after agreement from the ED.
A student can also have a personal experience with high "added value" validated, upon presentation of a file. Example: Presidency of a humanitarian association, participation in scientific awareness actions in schools, setting up a start-up...
Some basic rules :
It is strongly advised to set up your training plan from the beginning of your thesis and to carry out the training during the first 2 years.
A certificate issued by the organization organizing the training will be required by the Doctoral School to validate the hours of training taken.
An annual report on the training courses followed or in progress must be included in the progress report on the research work requested from each doctoral student at the end of the academic year (June) and validated by the Thesis Commission, in order to authorize re-registration in the thesis the following year.
Exemptions are granted by the Doctoral School Management upon request in very specific cases (please consult us) :
- thesis under a CIFRE agreement
